The locality is great for The Aotea Centre. The top end of Queen Street is quite steep so it is a real workout. A wonderful buffet breakfast at a very good price. Very worthwhile. We enjoyed the basic night meal. Very nicely done and again, good value. Butter chicken and pasta. Quite a tiny room but as you're not in it long it is perfectly adequate. Very good price for Queen Street and handy to Sky tower, Art Gallery and Myers park for an escape from city life. We found the staff very good. At the end of our stay worked out the bus system and paying by paywave but made the mistake of not tapping off when getting off bus. Cost extra but we were real country bumpkins who don't use busses. Would save a lot of shoe leather and puffing if we had worked it out earlier. All in all a very good stay at this hotel.Would definitely go there again.

Awesome Queen room with amazing bed night lights, a TV to entertain myself or keep me company, a phone to ring reception if I needed anything, a fan to keep me cool, fabulous shower and toiletries to use. A comfortable and relaxing Queen size bed - it was like Heaven! The location is surrounded by shops, but I enjoyed staying in the room. My highlight was the Restaurant to have a quick pre-dinner ($16 burger & chips) and a $20 continental breakfast (hash bites, baked beans, scrambled eggs, bacon (wish they had the sautéed mushrooms instead of the sautéed vegetables) and weetbix with yoghurt and fresh fruit) in the morning with glasses of Apple juice. Staff were very kind, caring, friendly, and extremely accommodating. Book in early to get a car park because there's limited space.

We used this hotel as our base for visiting Auckland. It was a short walk (30 min) to the harbour and a similar walk to the war museum and park area. The area immediately around the hotel seemed a little sketchy at first but we had no issues at all. You are very close to the University so there are loads of places to eat or grab a coffee. The breakfast buffet was good, you can pay a little more to get a fuller breakfast if you want. There is a restaurant in the hotel for lunch and dinner - we did not eat here but it smelled delicious . The location is out of the downtown area so a little quieter. If you are coming from the airport, I suggest taking the Super Shuttle about $20 per person.

Great location for business in the city. Nice , friendly night shift receptionist Priyanka I think her name was . Easy smooth check in and nice smiley face.. Can't say the same about the Day time receptionist . Not one smile or hello while passing throughout the day . Even the way she answered the phone when requesting towels . Very abrupt response and came off as frustrated. I work in hotel industry myself . The king split beds need to be dressed with a mattress topper under the mattress protector. It adds more cushion , especially on the middle split part that is uncomfortable. Bathroom Vents not working well , however the windows were enough ventilation

Perfect room to stay one or two nights in Auckland and a go out and about - we were out most of the time and just needed a comfy bed, a good shower, a clean room and friendly staff! There is even a nice hang out space downstairs if you want a change of scene and a little bar to have a drink or a snack before going out. The hotel is close to everything - good restaurants, the Civic/Aotea Centre, bars, shops, 15 min walk to the waterfront etc. I really rate this place - it is super good value for money and we'd definitely stay again.
